Transitions

Life somehow manages to throw a few curves - Isi found out he will be teaching in the Religion Department - at first he was a big sad that he would not longer be in the administration of the university, but now is excited to get back to teaching full time. Then, I thought my job was "safe" having worked there now for ten years. I had just had my interview with my boss and all seemed fine. Then the following week, I was informed they will be doing away with my job also. Kind of hit me in the face - I'm still not sure what I will do. I have a job interview tomorrow. Who needs money anyway?? Other than that, I'm grateful that we can still stay on campus until December. I'm looking foward to a change, just a little anxious about it. Wish my artwork was good enough to keep me in spending money for the grandkids.

I uploaded some pictures to flickr:

I have been spending quite a bit of time one-on-one with the grandkids. It has been fun and a little less challenging than having them all at the same time.

I had two cortizone shots - one in my knee and one in between my toes. I have been having a hard time walking lately with the pain so the doctor decided on the shots. I feel like a new woman. Hope it lasts for a while. I need my left knee replaced, but I am trying to put it off for a while.

We are getting excited to take Dad Anderson to Europe. He and Mom always came to visit us in Polynesia so they never had the chance to go to England, Denmark and Scotland where their ancestors come from. So, we only thought it fitting to take Dad next summer to see the place. I'm sure Mom will be with us in spirit.

Viva Las Vegas

Just back from a magnificent getaway in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. 'Isi and I got to see the Neil Diamond Tribute show and Menopause the Musical. We also ate at some fabulous restaurants and drove up and down the strip in a Rolls Royce with a new Greek friend. We stayed at the Stratosphere - the tallest tower in Las Vegas, went to the Venitian (incredible). I will be posting pictures soon. What a fun time - it was hard to come back to work, but Hawaii is still the most beautiful place to live. The temperature is just right now. The best part was spending time with Liana, Siope and Ileina.

Before I left, I was able to upload some of my new art at:

I plan to do more soon.

Jacob (Cubworld) is currently home to do a performance at BYU-Hawaii.

Be sure to come out this Friday, May 23, 2008, 7:30 pm at the McKay Auditorium

I just found one of my first oil paintings - a Tahitian girl - actually it has since been painted over - too bad, now that I see it - it wasn't too bad. Well, at least I have a photo of it. Check out my some of my other pictures at:

VOG

We had vog (volcanic fog) that covered the North Shore and made everything eerie for a couple of days. The kilauea volcano has been emitting some gas and the wind has not been able to carry it away. I hadn't seen it like that since I can remember. Sppoky.

San Diego

So, here I am while Isi is in San Diego at a conference. Life is about to change for us. In June they will be assigning new Vice Presidents for the university. So, where does that leave us? We'll keep you informed. Five more years to retirement for us, so hopefully we can hang on somewhere until then. Joel and the girls slept over last night and we are going to Chucky Cheeses for lunch today. It is Abi's birthday and we will be watching the kids. Then Nina invited me over for dinner. She will have her baby on Monday (C-section) so she wanted to have a last big party with all her friends before the big day. It will be Sophia if it is a girl and Shane if it is a boy. We're excited to see who comes out.
