Helping our Troops at Christmas
Many military families are separated during the holidays. As civilians, we enjoy the peace and security that our brave soldiers work hard to provide for us. Christmas is a perfect time to show our appreciation.
This blog serves as a journal of where I have traveled, different cuisine I have experienced, as well as a place to share my love of writing and art. I enjoy photography, oil painting, watercolor, pastels, free-hand sketching and digital art. Need custom blog content? I can help! Shoot me an email: rkongaika@gmail.com

Life Before Car Seats
Life Before Car Seats
In 1981 we almost lost our little son one afternoon. I had gone to get my husband where he taught school so he could have a bit of lunch. Our son and his little friend were in the back of our car (Volkswagen bus).

The Haunted Lagoon Experience
The Haunted Lagoon Experience
I thought I was too old to get scared, but I was wrong. Last week I went together with four of my grandchildren to the Haunted Lagoon, which is becoming a yearly event at the Polynesian Cultural Center in Hawaii. It was started to make up for the drop in tourists due to the poor economy.

It has only been two months since I discovered Hubpages and decided I would give it a try. I’m definitely not rich yet, but I have learned quite a few things about this cyberspace community.

A Christmas Without Santa
If you were to ask my children which Christmas was their favorite growing up, they will all tell you it was the Christmas when Santa didn’t come.

How to Deal with “Empty Nest” Depression
How to Deal with “Empty Nest” Depression
The saddest day of my life was the day my daughter left home to go to college. She was my best friend, and I wasn’t sure if I could stand her living miles away.
